After an extensive search, Zepf Center is pleased to welcome its new Chief Financial Officer, David Oppenlander, CPA.

With over 20 years of financial leadership experience in the healthcare sector, David is a valuable addition to the agency’s trauma-informed leadership team. His expertise in strategic planning, financial management, and data analytics will be crucial in advancing Zepf Center’s mission to create hope and recovery.

“My team is incredibly excited to have David on board,” said Zepf Center CEO Deb Flores. “His experience, education, and certifications will be a tremendous asset to our organization, clients, and community.”

Although David will be relocating to the Toledo area for this position, he is no stranger to Northwest Ohio. Having completed his BA in Accounting from the University of Toledo and his MBA from Bowling Green State University, David is also a proud member of Toledo’s 20 Under 40 program that showcases dynamic leaders from across the region.

Additionally, David honorably served for 12 years in the Ohio Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Sergeant. During this time, he learned powerful leadership and team-building skills while honing his computer programming abilities.

“Serving in the military was foundational to who I am today, and it taught me many leadership and life skills,” David shared. “I accomplished things I never thought I could do because others saw my potential.  Because of that, I always look at others who have potential, but don’t yet see it, and help them to grow and thrive.”

Beyond his impressive academic and professional achievements, David is licensed in Ohio as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He is also trained in Lean Six Sigma—a management approach focused on improving performance while reducing waste.

When asked what he looks forward to most in his new role, David expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with the talented and dedicated staff at Zepf Center.

“Everyone I have met is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about what they do and how that translates to caring for our clients,” he said.

Along those lines, David chose to join Zepf Center’s team because he resonated with the organization’s strong culture and mission. He specifically noted that staff are proud of the work they do and take time to care for one another despite managing demanding workloads.

“Zepf Center has cared for our community’s most vulnerable population for over 50 years, and ‘Hope Begins Here’ is a powerful phrase to those in need,” David said. “Being part of an organization committed to the community and the population it serves truly inspires me.”

With David’s leadership and expertise, Zepf Center is excited for continued stability and opportunities for growth in the coming years. Please join us in welcoming David Oppenlander, CPA to our team!
