Zepf Center’s Family Fun Block party, held on Sept. 14, was an incredible display of recovery, fellowship, and community support. Celebrating National Recovery Month, the event created a positive and uplifting space for people to connect, learn about recovery services, and enjoy time with their friends and neighbors.

The Block Party hosted dozens of community members, clients, and staff throughout the afternoon and featured local food trucks, community resources, and live music. Attendees were also treated to a variety of family-friendly activities, including face painting, bounce houses, and carnival games. Offering a mix of excitement and relaxation, there was something for guests of all ages.

“We were really looking forward to coming out and celebrating recovery on this beautiful afternoon,” said one Zepf Center client. “It’s great to see my neighbors and have a safe space to enjoy the fun.”

In addition to several area food trucks, the event welcomed local band 2 Left Missing. Playing everything from classic 50s music to current hits, the ensemble created the perfect party atmosphere as the event continued throughout the afternoon. Whether dancing or simply enjoying the sounds, the live performance was a highlight for many who attended.

Although Zepf Center celebrates Recovery Month each September, this year’s event was even more significant as the agency commemorates 50 years of serving Northwest Ohio. From humble beginnings in 1974, Zepf Center has grown throughout the decades to provide integrated, trauma-informed, person-centered care throughout the region.

“Recovery Month always holds a special place in our hearts, but we are overjoyed to be celebrating our 50th anniversary at the same time,” said Zepf Center CEO Deb Flores. “Our staff and the services they provide are vital for this community, and events like this allow us to see the fruits of their labor and the incredible accomplishments of those they serve.”

At the end of the day, the Block Party proved to be so much more than just an afternoon of fun; it was a powerful reminder of the strength of community and the true impact of recovery. As guests connected with local resources and continued to celebrate throughout the day, the event became a testament to the supportive and inclusive environment Zepf Center fosters.

The success of the Family Fun Block Party highlighted the importance of coming together as a community to celebrate recovery, build connections, and share moments of joy—especially during National Recovery Month. Thanks to the incredible Zepf Center volunteers and community members, it was a day filled with hope, recovery, and fellowship, making the event a truly unforgettable celebration.
