October Father of the Month: Terrill Bennett

Published Wednesday, November 15, 2023

Empowering fathers since 2021, the Northwest Ohio Fatherhood Connection (NWOFC) program remains dedicated to supporting program participants on their parenting journey. Their unique curriculum focuses on responsible parenting, economic stability and employment interventions while offering support services.

Every month, the NWOFC staff nominates one father who has gone above and beyond program requirements to be featured as the Father of the Month.

October’s Father of The Month Terrill Bennett has made great strides toward becoming a better man and a better father since enrolling in the Fatherhood Program. Before joining, Bennett described himself as a very relaxed parent. He came to Zepf Center because he wanted to learn discipline skills and improve his parenting toolkit. In addition to his fatherhood goals, Bennett wanted to focus on improving his life by adopting a sober lifestyle.

Bennett found Zepf Center’s Fatherhood program after searching for resources to get his life back on track and find a successful career path. Thanks to the tools offered by the Fatherhood Program, Bennett learned valuable skills that helped him achieve his goals. Although he began the journey alone, it wasn’t long before he found hope and support from his fellow program participants and Zepf Center staff. He credits the entire Fatherhood staff for their persistence in helping him become successful.

In addition to improving his parenting skills, the Fatherhood program has helped Bennett receive his welding certificate from Owens Community College. Bennett also received work clothes and resources to help him excel in his career and is currently working full-time at American Manufacturing. He plans to continue his welding career and further his education in the field.

Not only did Bennett find a successful career after graduating from the Fatherhood Program but has also found success as a parent. He has become a more dedicated parent and makes additional efforts to be involved in the lives of his children. As a result, Bennett has been able to form deeper connections with his children.

After his Fatherhood experience, Bennett encourages prospective fathers to take advantage of the program. He believes that the program can help all dads even if they are not currently involved in their children’s life. One of the most valuable lessons Bennett has learned from the program is that parenting doesn’t stop once your child turns a certain age, it is important to be involved at every life stage.

Zepf Center Fatherhood Connection cohorts are forming now! Those interested are invited to attend a Fatherhood 101 orientation and begin their journey with ZCFC. Introductory classes are held Tuesdays at 3 p.m. or Fridays at 10:30 a.m.—no appointment is needed.
