A committed community member and newly appointed Zepf Center Trustee, Cindy Kirby has been named the next president of the Toledo Bar Association. She will be installed at their annual meeting on June 6 and begin her term as the 122nd President on July 1, 2023.

“She is a champion in our community,” said Zepf Center CEO Deb Flores. “We look forward to collaborating with her in the coming months and having her expertise on the Board of Trustees.”

Kirby is a 1992 graduate of the University of Toledo College of Law and has practiced law in the Toledo area for more than 30 years. In addition to her current role as the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at her alma mater, she has served on several local boards and continues to be an advocate for social justice.

She is a founding member of the firm Kirby & Kirby, Ltd. where she practiced family law until November 2022. Kirby is a staunch supporter of the LGBTQ+ community and has had the opportunity to educate judges and magistrates about LGBTQ+ family law throughout the state.

In recognition of her service, Kirby was presented with the prestigious Public Interest Law Award by the Access to Justice Committee. Kirby was once again honored in June 2021 with the Jean Crowe Pro Bono Award presented by the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section.

Kirby joined the Zepf Center Board of Trustees in May of this year and attended her first meeting this past Tuesday. She often works with students in her role as Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and is looking forward to educating law students about mental health resources.

“I am very excited to step into these two roles,” Kirby said. “My goal is to make a difference in our community and facilitate collaboration between [the Toledo Bar Association and Zepf Center].”

The Zepf Center extends its most sincere congratulations to Kirby as she prepares to step into the role of Toledo Bar Association president. The Zepf Center team is proud to witness this part of her leadership journey and thankful she is becoming part of the Zepf family.
