- Prenatal alcohol exposure is linked to increase risk in miscarriage and stillbirth.
- Exposure can result in SIDS (Sudden Infant Syndrome) and premature birth.
- Additionally, exposure impacts the parents’ well-being. Many health-related diagnosis can be contributed to alcohol, such as, liver disease, cirrhosis death, heart disease, stomach bleeding, increase in certain cancers, stroke, and depression. Alcohol consumption increases the risk of breast cancer diagnosis in females.
While pregnant there is no medication assisted treatment that can be prescribed for alcohol use disorder.
