Northwest Ohio Fatherhood Connection (NWOFC) is proud to name Vincent Sample, Father-Of-The-Month for September 2022. The number one source of referrals for NWOFC has been word of mouth. Vincent had several friends and cousins share how Fatherhood Connection was a great program and helped them to learn to be better fathers. He saw the impact of NWOFC "I received assistance and encouragement from the moment I walked through the doors of Zepf Wellness Center." He admits the dangling carrot to join the NWOFC was to obtain his CDL A license. Vincent realized the CDL training was an excellent opportunity to impact his family but discovered the true gem was the Nurturing Father's parenting classes. He added, "I attended every class, was on time, and engaged with the other fathers. I loved hearing what other fathers said because I thought I was the only one going through stuff with my kids!" Joe Muniz and Tessa Sharp facilitated cohort 17 classes; this was their first time teaching a class together, and "they did a great job," remarked Vincent! Each class came with different things and tools to learn and apply." Vincent is the father to one 17- year- old son. And thanks to the Nurturing Father's classes, he now has gleaned nuggets of wisdom that make him the best Dad to his teenage son.
After graduating from the Nurturing Father's classes, Vincent signed up with Trainco to obtain his CDL A license. His drive and determination proved to be an asset in pursuing this training. It was a challenging task. He needed help passing the maneuverability portion of the exam. He had taken the test 3 times. An instructor at Trainco volunteered his services for one on one training. The instructor said to Vince, "I only help people when I see they want it bad," and Vincent wanted it badly! On Wednesday, September 21st, he walked through the doors of the Wellness Center with confidence and a big smile. "I did it" he exclaimed, "I passed my CDL exam." Vincent and the staff celebrated his victory. "As soon as I got out of the truck, I called my Mom and all my friends and cousins who had been on this journey with me." Support is the foundation to success and NWOFC's mission is to coach fathers on their pathway to success!
