Zepf Centerís Staff Overwhelmingly Ratify Contract

Contract creates a unified Zepf and Compass Unit

Published Friday, June 21, 2019

Toledo, OH - Zepf Center is pleased to announce the staff represented by Service Employees International Union 1199 (SEIU), overwhelmingly ratified a three-year collective bargaining agreement on June 19, 2019. The agreement merges two bargaining units and unifies the mental health and substance use disorder sides of Zepf Center under one contract.

“Behavioral healthcare is not compensated at a level that reflects their value to society. Our employees serve the most vulnerable and highest-need people and inspire hope and recovery on a daily basis. They deserve an agreement that reflects our value in them,” said Deb Flores, CEO.

Behavioral Health Redesign is negatively impacting providers across the state. Zepf has implemented significant cost-cutting measures affecting management and executive staff at a time when worker unrest and labor strife is making headlines. Zepf and the union have advanced an agreement that positions us to be the leaders in value-based care and puts employees, and patients, first. “Zepf is, and will continue to be, an employer of choice for talented and compassionate people. This agreement will help us retain and recruit the best staff in mental health and addiction services. We have served Northwest Ohio for over 40 years and look forward to another 40,” concluded Deb Flores, CEO.
