SERVICES & PROGRAMS


MEDICAL SERVICES

The overall goal of the Zepf Center Medical Department is to provide comprehensive and quality care to our clients.

The Medical Department is opened Monday thru Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. There are extended hours on Thursday evenings at the Central location until 8:30 P.M. After regular business hours, Medical Staff are available for consultation to other staff members via an on-call system.

All services are provided by qualified physicians, RN's, and LPN's.

Our Medical Department is certified to provide diagnostic assessment, medication/somatic services, Pre hospitalization screening and crisis intervention services.

Physician Psychiatric Services - Outpatient

1. Provides Psychiatric Diagnostic Assessment.
2. Evaluates and prescribes medication as necessary.
3. Provides education to the client about medication prescribed.
4. Monitors clients on an ongoing basis for effectiveness and side-effects to the medication prescribed.
5. Assesses emergency situations and provides crisis intervention.
6. Provides assessments and pre-hospital screenings when admission to a hospital appears necessary.
7. Provides consultation to admitting physicians/treatment team at hospitals during a client's hospitalization.
8. Educates, links, and refers based on a client's need to other services in the agency and the community.
9. Participates in development of treatment plan for clients with other appropriate staff from the agency and the community.
10. Provides consultation to other community agencies in regards to the total health care of the client.
11. Routinely sees all clients on a regular basis based on the individual client needs.

All of the services provided by the agency psychiatrists are available at both Central and Hamilton locations. Outreach services are also available on a limited basis.



Physician Psychiatric Services - Inpatient

1. Provides assessment to facilitate admission to a hospital (Pre hospitalization screening).
2. Consults with outpatient psychiatrist in the development of treatment course.
3. Evaluates, monitors, and prescribes course of treatment while clients are in an inpatient setting.
4. Refers client back to outpatient psychiatrist upon discharge.

All of these services are provided by agency inpatient psychiatrists and are provided while a client is in an inpatient setting.



Physician Medical Services

1. Provides physical examinations for admission of clients to Group Homes.
2. Provides physical evaluations as consultation for the purpose of linking and referring clients for appropriate medical follow-up in the community.

These medical services provided are on a limited basis and are offered only at the Hamilton location.



Nursing Services

1. Routinely sees all clients as indicated by the individual client needs.
2. Provides education to clients as related to their total health care.
3. Assesses emergency situations and provides crisis intervention.
4. Provides client with health and medication education.
5. Offers/provides nursing health assessments upon admission and annually to clients.
6. Provides linkage and referral to medical services in the community as needed.
7. Provides pre-hospital screenings when needed.

All of the services provided by the agencies qualified nursing staff are available at both Central and Hamilton locations. Outreach services are also available on a limited basis.
