Medical Services
The overall goal of the Zepf center Medical Department is to provide comprehensive and quality care to our clients.
The Medical Department is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. There are extended hours on Thursday evenings at the Central location until 8:30 P.M. Services are provided by licensed physicians and nurses at both Central and Nebraska locations.
Physician Psychiatric Services – Outpatient ( The services are provided by the agency psychiatrists)
- Provides Psychiatric Diagnostic Assessment.
- Evaluates & prescribes medication as necessary.
- Provides education to the client about medication prescribed& monitors clients on an ongoing basis for effectiveness & side effects .
- Assesses emergency situations and provides crisis intervention.
- Provides consultation to admitting physician/treatment team at hospitals during client's hospitalization.
- Educates, links, and refers based on a client's need to other services in the agency and the community.
- Participates in development of treatment plan for clients with other appropriate staff from the agency and the community.
Physician Psychiatric Services – Inpatient ( The services are provided by agency inpatient psychiatrists)
- Evaluates, monitors and prescribes course of treatment while clients are in an hospital setting.
- Consults with outpatient psychiatrist in the development of treatment course.
- Refers client back to outpatient psychiatrist upon discharge.
Physician General Medical Services : (The services are provided on a limited basis by a consulting family practice physician only at the Nebraska location)
- Provides physical examinations for admission of clients to group homes.
- Provides physical examinations as consultation for the purpose of linking and referring clients for appropriate medical follow up in the community.
Nursing Services
- Routinely sees all clients as indicated by the individual client needs.
- Provides client with health and medication education.
- Offers/provides nursing health assessments, weight management and smoking cessation program.
- Provides linkage and referral to medical services in the community as needed.
- Outreach services are also available on a limited basis to the group homes.
