What are the levels of Service provided by Zepf Children's Department?

Q:

What should I do if I need mental health treatment and do not have any insurance or income?


A:

You can still receive services at Zepf and payment would be based on your monthly income. People that have no income or a lower income can qualify for the Lucas County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board Sliding Fee Scale. Eligible clients may be assessed a co-pay of 0 to $20, with the remaining balances or cost of services being subsidized by the Lucas County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board. People who have no insurance or who are under-insured must complete their first initial intake assessment at Central Access 419-255-3125 and then they can be referred to the Zepf Center for their mental health treatment.

Q:

What happens if my financial situation changes?


A:

If your financial situation changes Zepf staff will assist you in reviewing your benefits and exploring your options.  Also, Zepf staff will work closely with you to ensure continuity of the services you are receiving.

Q:What if I cannot afford my medications?
A:Medical and billing staff can assess your eligibility and assist you with Central Pharmacy medication, drug assistance programs, sample medications and/or generic prescriptions as best as they can.

Q:What if I have emergency or crisis situation?
A:If you are client you can call Zepf Center during business hours for assistance in an emergency or crisis situation. You can call or go to Rescue Mental Health Services after regular business hours. If you are not a client of Zepf center, please call or go to Rescue Mental Health Services for an emergency or crisis situation.

Q:What is NetWORK?
A:NetWORK provides community-based vocational services to unemployed and under-employed people with disabilities and other barriers to employment in Lucas County.  Our primary focus is assisting people with barriers to meaningful employment to choose, locate, and retain employment.

Q:How can I receive services from NetWORK?

Q:How much will I have to pay?
A:All costs are covered by RSC.  There are no costs for services to you.

Q:What is a job developer?
A:Job developers are trained staff who will assist you in finding employment.  Depending on your needs they may go out and speak with employers on your behalf, or go with you to apply for jobs.  If necessary, the job developer will speak to employers about possible incentives such as a work tryout, or on the job training.  Job developers will also educate the employer about your disability if an accommodation is needed at work.

Q:Can I choose my own job developer?
A:Yes, everyone is welcome to come in and meet our job developers and then choose whom they would like to work with.   If you do not wish to do this your counselor may recommend a job developer or we can simply pick one for you.

Q:Is there a wait list?
A:No, NetWORK does not have a waiting list.  A job developer will contact you within 24 hours of receiving the referral from your counselor.

Q:How do I get started with services?
A:You and your job developer will sit down at the first meeting and discuss what services your counselor referred you for.  We work with everyone on an individual basis, therefore we want to hear from you as to your vocational likes and dislikes as well as what you need from us.  A plan will then be developed using input from you and your counselor to determine the best way to help you to achieve your goal.

Q:After I obtain a job will you close my case?
A:RSC will close your case after you have been successfully employed for 90 days.  NetWORK will keep your case open for 6 months.  We periodically check to see if you are still employed and ensure that everything is going well.  If a problem should arise simply call your job developer and they will call RSC to have your case reopened.

Q:What if I live outside of Lucas County?

A:Zepf center provides outpatient services to individuals who are resident of Lucas County. Please contact our Enrollment Specialist should you live outside of Lucas County and wish to receive services at Zepf.

Q:When will I feel better?
A:Each individual case and diagnosis varies. There are many options to treatment such as medications, case management, individual and group therapy that work differently for each person. Discuss with your clinical staff what options may be beneficial for you and your mental health.

Q:What is an IRP?
A:An Individual Recovery Plan (IRP) is a tool used by the case managers to assist the client in identifying their short and long-term goals and the interventions or tasks that are necessary in reaching those goals.

Q:Do you take private insurance?
A:Yes, there are private insurance companies that reimburse for services at Zepf Center.  Please contact your insurance company to determine if Zepf services will be covered.

Q:Can I choose who I can see?
A:If there is a particular professional you would like to see at Zepf Center we will work with you to try to see that professional.  Most of the time this can be arranged.  However, there could be scheduling issues that may influence who you see and when you see them.

Q:What is expected of me if I come to Zepf Center?
A:To ensure that you get the most benefit from the services you receive at Zepf Center it is important that  you actively participate, follow through with appointments, and give sufficient input about how you are doing.

Q:Do I have to take medications?  
A:When you first come to Zepf Center, you will meet with an intake worker and then one of our psychiatrists who will work with you to determine what services and possibly what medications might be helpful.  Taking medications is not required for receiving services at Zepf Center but may be recommended by the psychiatrist you see. 

Q:What is therapy/counseling?  What does it involve?

A:Therapy gives you the opportunity to talk with a professional who will help you to identify the issues and feelings in your life that will need to be addressed to improve your ability to cope and function and to improve the quality of your life.  The issues may be from your past such as significant losses that are unresolved or traumatic memories that interfere with your life.  You may have emotions that are hard to manage such as anger, and you may have relationships that seem to hurt more than they help.  Therapy can give you the structure and support to create positive changes in your life.  

Q:Does Zepf provide housing?
A:Zepf is a mental health agency. We do not provide housing services. Once you are connected to Zepf Center the CPST can provide information on how to access housing resources such as Lucas County Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) www.lucasmha.org and Neighborhood Properties (NPI) http://www.neighborhoodproperties.org/. Each of these resources has specific criteria for services. Zepf does operate two group homes (Maumee House and Ottawa House) and two HUD subsidized apartments (The Oaks and Stewart Apartments).

Q:Does Zepf help clients receive benefits?
A:We can refer you to our in-house benefits specialist who would be able to determine if you would qualify for benefits. We can also assist you in making application for benefits.

Q:How can I get food?
A:We can, on a limited basis, refer you for food baskets with local agencies. We can assist in applying for food stamps if you would qualify.

Q:Can you take me where I need to go?
A:We are not a transportation system but depending on your situation we may be able to assist on occasion.

Q:I only need treatment for substance abuse, do you provide substance abuse treatment at Zepf Center?
A:Unfortunately no. Zepf is not licensed by the State of Ohio to provide substance abuse treatment.

Q:What does a CPST do?
A:A CPST assists clients with the development of short and long-term goals, links and refers clients to community resources, provides advocacy, and assists in the management of psychiatric symptoms.
