On July 14, 2003 the
Zepf Center held an event to celebrate the 100th birthday
of its namesake, Elizabeth Ann Zepf who was born July 6, 1903. In a recent resolution the Lucas County
Mental Health Board has proclaimed Mrs. Zepf’s birthday a milestone for
the entire community mental health system.
Mrs Zepf educated many people
about mental disorders such as schizophrenia, depression and anxiety
disorders and worked tirelessly as an advocate for consumers of mental
health services. She was
dedicated to the consumers right to receive quality care regardless of
ability to pay.
Every Zepf Center employee as well as all current and former Zepf
Center board members will be a part of the celebration. Additionally Mayor Jack Ford along
with several City Council members read a proclamation honoring
Mrs. Zepf. Jackie Martin,
Director of the Lucas County Mental Health Board was also on hand to
say a few words about Mrs. Zepf on behalf of the county.
