Don't Skirt the Issue...HELP 2020

Over the past four years, Zepf Center’s annual, Don’t Skirt the Issue – Help! fundraiser has successfully supported housing for women impacted by the opiate crisis and van transportation for youth served by our homeless shelter – Safety Net. While the current COVID-19 pandemic has impacted our ability to host an in-person event, we will work virtually to raise funds to support Safety Net – Northwest Ohio’s only 24/7 shelter for runaway and homeless youth.
November marks the yearly observance of Runaway and Homeless Youth Awareness Month. A time to spotlight the challenges faced by these young people that often-times remain invisible. https://www.1800runaway.org

Did you know that over the course of a 12-month period:
  • 1 in 30, or about 700,000 youth ages 13-17, will experience homelessness
  • 1 in 10, or about 3.5 million young adults ages 18-24, will experience homelessness
  • 40% of the homeless population in the United States are under the age of 18
  • 3,600 youth in Ohio are currently at-risk for human-trafficking
  • Toledo Public Schools report that 2,000 of their students are homeless
Since its opening in 2016, Zepf Center’s Safety Net has been able to provide comprehensive, evidence and strengths-based services to nearly 1,200 youth, with the goal of bridging permanent connections with families, communities, schools, and other positive social networks.
Now more than ever, your support is needed to ensure that Safety Net can continue to operate.  The COVID-19 pandemic has presented us with increased challenges and has significantly impacted our ability to provide services. We are determined to remain Zepf Center strong! Please join us this November as we work to impact the lives of youth in our community who have been impacted by homelessness.
